How it affects you
From January 2, 2026, a court may allow photographing or publishing an image of a detained suspect only for special reasons and an overriding genuine public interest. An identifiable photo taken inside the courthouse outside the courtroom will require the suspect’s written consent or court approval, while military courts will apply the stricter test.
